A date for your Diary: TUESDAY 19th JULY 2011. This is the Centenary of the official Opening of the Royal Liver Building in 1911, and hence the 100th Birthday of the Liver Birds. On this day, the Royal Liver will be having their own big events, the City will honour Carl Bernard Bartels as Citizen of Honour in the Town Hall, and the new Museum of Liverpool will open its doors to the general public and have its official Grand Opening. What a day for Liverpool!

CARL BERNARD BARTELS; shout his name, loud and often. He designed our Liver Building Birds, back in 1908, and this coming July they will be 100 years old. Carl himself will be proclaimed a CITIZEN OF HONOUR on that day, to make up for the way Liverpool treated him during and after the Great War! View my booklet about him, and ...Watch this space!

Do you speak French? Do you need some practice, need some tuition, or just fancy a chat in French? A group of like-minded people tend to gather on Tuesday evenings in The Brew Bar, just off Old Hall St, from 6.00 - 8.00 or so, to chat in French. Just pop in, sit anywhere, and introduce yourself to anybody - that's what we have all come for. It is totally informal and free of any charge, (although the manager would appreciate you buying a cuppa!).

My new, improved web-site went live today, uploaded at last, all thanks due to the remarkable John Blakeborough. It is much easier to navigate, quicker to respond, the links all work. Much of the content is now in the form of PDF pages, which makes it easier for viewers to download or print the exact text they want. It is still in need of actual editing, as it is months since I have been able to do anything.

You can read the Echo article here and see more about Lyverchino on my page here, also the article and news photos taken by Gareth Jones can be found in my Lyverchino Booklet.
